A new ultra-slim, miniature solenoid valve has been developed by Gloucestershire-based manufacturer Burkert, designed for medical applications.
At 4.5 mm wide, the Type 6650 solenoid valve sets a new standard for the industry, according to the company, because it outperforms similar devices at 10 mm and 16 mm in size.
The device, which utilises "flipper" technology for a short response time, can be used on vacuum up to seven-bar and provides medium isolation for aggressive fluids.
Two sizes, 0.4 mm and 0.8 mm, are available, along with 2/2 and 3/2 compatibility, and the company said that the devices work best in applications where a high fluid performance in a small space is required.
SMC Pneumatics recently released its range of VXE Series two-port solenoid valves, offering zero differential pressure, and both pilot and direct operation, developed as part of the company´s Energy Saving Programme.
